Changpuak Muay Thai is located at 470, 34 Changklan Rd, Chang Khlan Sub-district, Mueang, Chiang Mai 50100, Thailand — right in the Night Bazaar area of central Chiang Mai, one of the city's most central and walkable neighborhoods. The gym sits within easy reach of countless restaurants, cafes, street food stalls, convenience stores, and budget-to-mid-range accommodation. It's also a short ride from the Old City, making it convenient whether you're staying nearby short-term or settling in for a longer training stint.
Yes. Classes are mixed, and women train alongside men in every session — it's a normal and welcomed part of the gym's daily training, not a separate program. Coaches adjust pad work, sparring intensity, and drills to each student's level regardless of gender, so women joining solo or as complete beginners are well supported from day one.
No. Changpuak Muay Thai welcomes complete beginners as well as experienced fighters. Every class is structured for all levels, and coaches adjust pad work, drills, and sparring intensity to match each student's experience.
Changpuak Muay Thai welcomes students aged 12 and up. Younger teenagers train alongside adults in the same classes, with coaches adjusting intensity, pad work, and sparring to suit age and experience level. There's no upper age limit — the gym regularly trains adults of all ages, from first-timers to lifelong martial artists.
No equipment is needed for your first class — gloves and other gear are available to borrow at the gym, so you can try a session without any upfront purchase. If you decide to train regularly, bringing your own gloves and hand wraps is recommended for hygiene and a better fit, and gear can easily be bought locally in Chiang Mai or brought from home.
The gym is led by Kru Roen, a Chiang Mai-born Muay Thai coach who started training at age eight and went on to fight more than 300 professional bouts over his career. He has over 40 years of experience teaching authentic Thai Muay Thai, working hands-on with everyone from first-time visitors to fighters preparing for amateur and professional bouts. His coaching style blends traditional Thai methods — learned through his own decades inside the ring — with the patience needed to bring complete beginners up to speed safely.
Classes run six days a week, Monday to Saturday, with two sessions a day: a morning session (running/sprints at 9:00–9:30am, followed by Muay Thai training at 9:30–11:00am) and an evening session (Muay Thai training from 6:00–8:00pm, covering pads, bagwork, technique, sparring, and clinching). Sunday is a rest day.
Pricing ranges from a single ฿400 drop-in class up to ฿7,000 for a monthly membership with two sessions a day. Weekly passes (one or two sessions/day), a 10-session card, and one-on-one private classes are also available. Full current pricing is listed on the Programs & Pricing page.

Private one-on-one classes with a dedicated coach are available for students who want personalized attention, faster technical correction, or custom drills built around their goals — whether that's general fitness, technique refinement, or fight preparation. Yes — Changpuak Muay Thai is a genuine fighter gym at its core. The gym runs its own fight team and competes at stadiums across Chiang Mai 1 to 4 times a week, with fighters regularly stepping into the ring throughout the month. Both local Thai fighters and foreigners are part of the team, and the gym sponsors fighters from both groups. Students working toward an amateur or professional fight get dedicated fight support — targeted pad work, private coaching, and conditioning geared toward an upcoming bout — typically as part of the monthly two-sessions-a-day membership. That said, the gym is just as welcoming to students who have no interest in competing and are simply training for fitness, skill, and the experience of authentic Muay Thai.
Yes. Chiang Mai is popular with digital nomads thanks to citywide fiber internet, a large cafe scene, and affordable long-term studio rentals from around $200/month, making it easy to combine serious training with remote work.

Changpuak Muay Thai has trained students from more than 30 nationalities, and coaching is given in a way that's accessible to international students, with Kru Roen and the team experienced in teaching foreigners of all backgrounds.
